Hey guys I have had a few people contacting me lately about buffering and thought I would send this article out, restarting make a huge difference.
This is the best way to avoid buffering on your Firestick.
It should be done most everyday.
This guide will show you How to Restart or Reboot Firestick with three different methods to refresh your device.
Restarting your Firestick/Fire TV is a great way to reboot your device and get it running at peak performance.
If you are experiencing any issues with your Fire TV device, I always recommend a restart first.
Method 1 – Unplug Power Cord
The fastest way to restart your Firestick or Fire TV is to simply unplug the power cord from the outlet or device.
This works great if you find your device is frozen or you are unable to access anything with the remote.
Once unplugged, wait 20-30 seconds and plug back in. That’s it! Your device will now cycle through the restart process.
Method 2 – Remote Shortcut (I just learned this one)
If you are having trouble accessing your outlet or firestick to unplug it, there is a way to simply use your provided Firestick Remote to restart it.
- From any screen, use your remote to click the Pause/Play button and the Select button simultaneously for a few seconds as shown below:
restart firestick with remote
- Your device will prompt the following message stating “Your Fire TV Stick 4k is Powering Off”
- After powering off, the device will reboot and be back up and running in no time.
Method 3 – Firestick/Fire TV Settings
- Hover over the Settings icon and select My Fire TV.
- Scroll down and choose Restart. (Be careful not to choose RESET)
- Click Restart again.
- Your Firestick will start powering off.
- Wait a minute or two for your Firestick/Fire TV to reboot.
- That’s it! You have successfully restarted your Firestick/Fire TV.
